The Board has the authority to review and make the final decision on zoning variances, conditional use approvals, and appeals of administrative decisions. The Board of Adjustment is made up of five members, and one alternate who serve for a 3-year term. One member of the Board of Adjustment is appointed from Planning Commission members, because of the quasi-judicial nature of the Board of Adjustment, no elected officials may serve on the board. Board of Health Four member board consisting of the Mayor, President of the City Council, and two other members serving for a 1-year term. The Board’s purpose is to safeguard the health of citizens from preventable death, disease, illness and injury. In an effort to do so, the Board makes and enforces the City’s nuisances ordinances. Building and Zoning The City of Terrytown has an agreement with the City of Scottsbluff for building permits and other building and zoning matters. For more information, call (308) 630-6243. In doing so, the Planning Commission serves in an advisory capacity on all matters relating to the City's development. This includes matters relating to the City's comprehensive plan, capital improvements, building codes, subdivision development, annexation, and zoning ordinances. Nebraska statutes require recommendations from the City's Planning Commission on any of these matters prior to formal action by the City Council. The Planning Commission is made up of five members, who are appointed for a 3-year term. Streets Terrytown (Excluding Bellevue) The City of Terrytown maintains streets using city staff.
